5.0 Best Souvenir Ever

by Christine K. from Chicago on Feb 3, 2011

Earlier last month I visited Costa Rica for the first time ever. While on tour at the Sloth Sanctuary I saw these chocolates in their gift shop. I picked up a little 6oz tin of the cashews and I am so glad I did. I didn't eat them right away but when I finally broke the seal on them and pulled off those two lids I was glad I bought them home. The chocolate is delectable and the nuts crunchy and tasty. I like them very much and if I ever get the chance to visit Costa Rica again I'll definitely be buying another tin or bag of these nuts.

4.0 chocolate cashews

were very good except came in one big clump. FedEx delivery took over 7 days to deliver. Seems their diriver didn't know how to use GPS. Perhaps if the order came COD it would have gotten to me sooner. Bills never show up late at my house :)

5.0 Chocolate Covered Cashews

by Mary Hammel from Black Forest, Colorado on Mar 10, 2010

My husband LOVES these treats. He tries very hard to get a bag to last as long as he can, so he doesn't run out. He's lactose-intolerant but these do not bother him at all. I admit, I sneak 1 or 2 to satisfy my sweet tooth once in awhile.

Product Detail

Nurtured in the warmth of Costa Rica’s tropical climate, our prime whole cashews are delicately bathed in creamy gourmet dark chocolate to attain perfection. These festive crescents will add a warm touch to your party and be perennial favorite with friends & family.

Chocolate Connoisseur

Our chocolate covered cashews have lived a surprisingly long and complex life by the time you savor them.  Cashews grow on crooked, rather short evergreen trees only near the equator.  The bush-like plant produces a sweet, succulent fruit with a kidney bean shaped appendage where the nut resides.  The nut has an outer shell that covers both the edible kernel and a caustic layer of oil that must be removed before the nut is consumed.

Once the nuts are safely harvested and roasted, we coat them in quality dark chocolate using one of the most ancient forms of candy making called panning.  Egyptians first developed this process of coating nuts by rotating them in a bowl while sweet liquid was drizzled atop, evenly covering them.

Our top grade, whole kernel cashews are covered with a shiny, dark brown layer of chocolate.  It is a pleasant surprise to learn that this satisfying indulgence is not a guilty pleasure thanks to health benefits provided by both chocolate and cashews. Dark chocolate is full of antioxidants that are shown to lower blood pressure and cholesterol.  Additionally, not only do cashews have a lower fat content than most nuts, they are high in oleic acid, the healthy fat that also promotes heart health.
